The Importance of Celebration event
A female-empowerment, activity-led event that puts achievement and unapologetic thinking at the heart of the conversation. Storytelling, conversation, connection.
This 2 hour event can be booked on-site (UK) or online (worldwide) for corporations and groups that want women to thrive. It is for any and all female employees, students and communities.
The event opens with a personal speech from facilitator Betty Adamou, which leads into two activities between the delegates, as Betty puts forward important questions to be answered. Hand-outs are provided to facilitate the conversation, and women are placed in groups to share, collaborate and network.
Expect tears, laughter, and genuine connection. Defeat imposter syndrome, say sorry less, celebrate more.

The story behind the event
I have kept a diary for years, and one day I started musing about how rubbish I felt about not celebrating my professional and personal achievements, and why I owe it to myself to take time and celebrate beyond treating myself to a cup of tea.
I typed up the journal entry and sent it as an article titled "The Importance of Celebration" to Women in Research (WIRe), a fantastic organisation that runs events worldwide supporting females in the market research industry. Not only did WIRe publish the article, they wanted to make an entire evening workshop event out of it. My first event in London was fully booked, standing room only.
The event was part storytelling and part activity. I read out my article, to many laughs and some tears, and then together in groups we pursued questions around celebration. What holds us back? What achievements do we want to celebrate next? How can we celebrate each other as women? How can we support each other?
Unbeknownst to me, Jo Mercier of the Lean In organisation was at the WIRe event, listening. Inspired by the workshop, Jo and the Lean In team booked me to run the same event online a few weeks later, and the Importance of Celebration event became official. In both events women laughed and cried as they shared and supported one another, and left inspired and hopeful.
Now I continue to provide this event with a variety of businesses to empower their female employees, students and communities.
